Hello everyone. There is a London based company called Improbable that has made a computing platform called SpatialOS. It enables servers to run huge simulated worlds. Currently, there is a game called Worlds Adrift available on Steam that uses this technology.

If you combined your voxel engine technology with SpatialOS you could have the first massively multiplayer voxel based game. It would probably be a big commercial success. There have been many copycats of Minecraft, but none of them have ever breached lower server population caps because of the limitations of the traditional client-server model.

SpatialOS now has a C++ SDK.

Hi, thanks for your interest. Unfortunately at this time we have no plans to develop further games, but instead to focus only on the technology. If we do make make more games in the future then they will need to be much smaller than what you describe due to our limited resources.

Cubiquity 2 is going slowly but is moving forward, and the good news is that it will be fully open source thus allowing anyone to undertake such a project. When it is finished you may be able to find other people with similar ambitions!
