Can I use Cubiquity to create large worlds. And is it possible to use different levels of details (LODs) for better performance?

This depends on your definition of 'large' :-) There is no hard-coded limit on the terrain size but I suspect you will hit performance and/or memory issues if you makes the sides of your volume more than a few hundred voxels long. I haven't really tested it but you can do so yourself by downloading the free version of Cubiquity.

We do have some LOD code but it's really just at the prototype stage, so for now you cannot use it.
